Randolph Oaks Golf Course is a Military, 18 hole golf course located on Randolph AFB, Texas.
Randolph Oaks Golf Course first opened for play in 1950. Joe Finger took over the design duties from Ralph Plummer, who was supposedly tired of dealing with the military red tape during construction. Their collaboration resulted in a long, flat course that is known for its wide fairways and small, elevated greens. The course was redesigned in 2004 by George Williams and Robert Rose.
The course has water hazards coming into play on several holes and sand bunkers spread throughout its design. The fairways are wide, but there is a thick cut of rough bordering all of the fairways. Fifteen of the eighteen greens are small and elevated, calling for accurate approach shots. You'll sense the length on the par 3s, since two are over 200 yards, and the others play over 180. The par 5s are long as well, averaging 550 yards in length. No. 5 is notable because the approach is surrounded by water, and No. 12 is considered the toughest because of its long, 589-yard dogleg that turns sharply off the tee.
